Cuthbertson’s All-In-One Bike Repair Manual: For Both Road and Mountain Bikes Provides instructions and illustrations for repairing cruiser bikes, road bikes, and mountain bikes.
Customer Review: This is a great book, unless you have a three speed, which it doesn’t cover.
However, it is 95% identical to the latest version of Anybody’s Bike Book, which might be easier to obtain. Either is a good choice for an introduction to the care and feeding of bicycles.

(The only difference I could find is that the newer Anybody-book describes the relatively new “V-brake”, which is significantly different from the older “U-brake”, which is covered in this All-in-One book.)

If one needed to tackle a three-speed bike, I would recommend the earlier edition of the Anybody’s Bike Book..
