Sedona Hikes & Mountain Bike Rides: One Hundred Twenty-One Day Hikes, 15 Mountain Bike Rides, 5 Vortex Sites Around Sedona, Arizona This book is the bible for Sedona hikers, the one that knowledgeable people recommend. It contains detailed descriptions and maps that guide the reader to 135 day hikes around the Sedona area. The layout makes the hikes very easy to follow, and the directions are precise, foolproof, and reliable. You won’t get lost if you use this book. There are also directions for finding five of the famous Sedona Vortex sites. The book contains eight pages of beautiful color photographs taken by Sherry Mangum, illustrating the attractions that make Sedona such a desirable hiking Mecca. The authors have spent many years researching and field-testing the hikes, and since the book was introduced in 1992, they have kept it up to date by constant revision. They also maintain a website posting up-to-the-minute information.
Customer Review: A passport to beauty
This is a great book. Sedona is utterly beautiful, and this book helps walkers to get up close to the beauty.

Straight forward clear route descriptions, with useful summary graphics. Very clear about lengths, height gains and difficulties of routes. The book covers all grades of walk around Sedona from the gentle Centenary Trail to proper hikes up Bear Mountain or Wilson Mountain. The book is better now that it has colour photos throughout.

If I have any criticism it is that the book describes all the routes as out and back routes. Once you get to know Sedona better you realise you could make more satisfying through routes by linking from one trail onto another.

This book will help those people who go to Sedona and want to enjoy walking there. For me visiting occasionally from the UK it is like having an experienced local on hand.
Customer Review: Vortexes
I was just in Sedona the weekend of 1/2/09 and there are now only three vortexes. Boynton Canyon, Chicken Point and a new one near the visitors center in Cottonwood. But there are vortexes in every state, discover them for your self!
