The Bikes and I: Motorcycling on Two-lane Blacktop in Upstate NY Living with motorcycles, each with a distinct personality, and riding the backroads, learning more about life from each motorcycle. Motorcycles are living, breathing creatures and all riders believe this, regardless of what they admit. This book takes you on the ride. Hang on tightly!
Customer Review: Riding with D.S.Kirk.
The author loves motorcycling, that much is immediately obvious, but what is equally apparent is the love that he has for each successive motorcycle that he owns. As he writes in the book, a motorcycle is family, whether that be a favoured son or the black sheep of the family. He writes compelling tales of motorcycling for the sake of it. Riding as hobby, as it were. There are no rides to work, no trips to the shops, this is a book that must appeal to all of us who ride for nothing more than the simple pleasure of riding, and if you’ve never been on a motorcycle before, then climb on the pillion seat of one of Kirk’s machines and experience the joy that he feels every time he rides.
Customer Review: Okay, I’m the author
This is not a technical book on motorcycles, nor is it a travel document. I wrote this to emphasize the relationship between rider and machine. The book focuses on many rides in the local area of rural upstate New York, with emphasis on the joy of the ride and the identity between rider and machine and the feelings of being out on two-lane blacktop in rural New York.
