This is not a “mountain bike” more like a “mountain style bike”. I got mine about 2.5 months ago, and I’ve ridden it 75 miles so far. The majority of those miles were on pavement or smooth dirt paths. I recently tried to actually ride off road, with mixed results. Ascending (climbing) the bike is OK, shift to the lowest gear, and go. On trails with flat or mild elevation changes it’s OK. Try going down a trail with large rocks and a steep incline and the bike simply cannot handle it. I now realize that I will keep this one for commuting and riding with my Fiancee (who hates dirt, but likes the mountain bike style) and I will be either building or buying a much more serious bike for actual trail riding in the Phoenix Mountain Preserve, and other great AZ trails. It’s an OK deal for someone who likes the MTB styling, but never rides anything beyond the easy paths.
Since I’ve had it my front derailleur has had to be adjusted, and now the rear derailleur does too.
Customer Review: You get what you pay for
Great price, great looking bike. End of positives. I’ve ridden this “bike” 4 times. First three trips were uneventful. On the last trip, the chain came off and wedged itself in the space between the pedal arm and the small sprocket. The sprocket is ruined I am sure. If you are considering one, I paid $[...] for the bike. Divided by the times I got to ride the bike, I paid $[...] per ride. This bike is a piece of crap. Buy at your own risk. I know some will scoff at this review saying that I am probably an amateur bike rider. That is true. Anyone who buys a bike for $[...] is an amateur.
